Snack time does not mean a break from learning and growing. Play is what kids do to make a connection with the world around them. Often food is made into patterns before it is eaten. For the child with sensory issues that makes eating a challenge, touching foods they are hesitant to taste is the first step to becoming comfortable with a certain food. For others, they make the connection to colors. And still others, the fine motor pincer grip is fine tuned. And, of course, there is the yummy snack!
